Hello,
I'm Jai Alexander

About Me

Jai Alexander, a Houston, TX native, journey began at KrysStyle Dance Studio, where he trained in Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, and Hip Hop. As a senior in high school, Jai joined the Heights High School Redcoats (2013–2014), where he was introduced to styles, including Military, Pom, Jazz, Contemporary, Kick, and Jazz Funk.

After high school, Jai furthered his dance education at the University of Houston, where he became the only male member of The Cougar Dolls Dance Team (2014–2015). Jai’s passion for dance grew as he began teaching at Planet Funk Academy (2015–2021). During this time, he honed his skills in contemporary dance and expanded into choreography and instruction in jazz and heels.

Jai continued his work with the Heights High School Redcoats (2015–2023), contributing competition choreography, pep rally routines, master classes, auditions, and performance consultations. In 2019, Jai launched choreobyjai and began hosting classes throughout the Houston dance community, both in studios and outdoors while organizing volunteer events aimed at giving back to the community.

In 2022, Jai returned to regularly teach contemporary-based classes at MHLV Dance Studio, marking a significant milestone in his teaching career. That same year, he decided to pursue an Associate of Arts in Dance at Houston Community College, continuing toward a Bachelor of Science in Dance (expected May 2025) from Lamar University. During his collegiate studies, Jai served as an Administrative Assistant with Aimed Dance (2023–2024) and interned with DanceSource Houston (2024).

Currently active in the Houston Dance Community, Jai regularly substitutes at Soundbox Studios and teaches at The Stage Dance Studio and The Interchange. His choreography has been selected for presentation at festivals such as the Latino/a/x Contemporary Dance Festival (2024), Oklahoma Contemporary Dance Festival (2024), 254 Dance Fest (2025), and Artists for Hope (2025).
